trident 13, December 28, 2011 By This review is from: Ocean Kayak Trident 13 Angler Kayak - Sit On Top (Misc.) this is amazing kayak... great on the surf and on lakes very stable and moves around great on the water... the other review on the kayak is not for the ocean kayak trident 13 it is for the bass pro knock off!!!... don't get the two kayaks mixed up go look at the trident and then go look at the bass pro knock off.. completely different... all in all this is a must for anglers that like fishing out of kayaks!!!

This review is for the company as much as it is for the kayak itself. I got the Bass Pro version of this boat, the Endeavor model, which is identical to the Prowler hull. I was excited to get it, because I had been paddling a shorter Pelican kayak, and this was supposed to be a step up.
As with any boat, the first concern is seaworthiness. Nice features don't mean much with a hull full of water. This boat is unsafe, and the manufacturer doesn't seem too concerned.
On the first trip out, the boat took on water, a lot more than I was comfortable with, so I had to stop and make repairs with some marine sealant. Kayaks are very small boats, so a big leak can be a real problem, and this one was downright unsafe.
It turns out that the dry hatch was not only not watertight, but some of the nuts cooked into the hull were quite loose, and the bolts were just wiggling around in the hole. No way something like that should have passed QA if they were testing... Read more
