Excellent Product, But Make Sure to Use Both Clips, October 12, 2011 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Kayak Folding Paddle Clip 1 1/8 (Misc.) I like this paddle clip system, though it is a shame you have to buy your own hardware (bolts, lock washer, nut) to mount it. At first, I thought that the manufacturer had sent me two clips for the price of one, but this is definitely not the case. You absolutely must use both clips that are included in your package to get a strong fit for your paddle. Don't be fooled into thinking the manufacturer provided you with an extra clip! If you only use one of these clips and try to mount your paddle in choppy or otherwise gnarly conditions, you are going to have the clip sheer off and lose your paddle, that is a fact. But if you actually mount both clips to your boat, you will get a very, very nice fit. Overall, I was impressed with the product, but others may not like having to drill four sets of holes in their boat, particularly with glass boats. Mine is rotomolded, and I mainly use it for hunting, so I felt fine with drilling the holes for a few after-market fittings.

I bought this for my wife but she is reluctant to drill holes in her kevlar kayak to mount it. I may end up installing it on my plastic kayak. I like that it folds down almost flush to to the top of the kayak but I wish it had enough tension to keep it either up or down instead of being so floppy.
