Not What I Expected... In a Good Way!, April 9, 2012 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Carlisle Paddle Rod Clip, Black, Set of 2 (Sports) I thought these were going to be the cheap plastic clips I found at Gander Mountain, but I should know better when ordering a product made by Carlisle. I invested in the Magic Plus (also an amazon purchase! You guys rock!) and definitely needed something to keep my paddle safe and secure. These are actually made of a very high quality rubber - a rubber that seems a little harder/stiffer, in my opinion, which makes it better quality. They can be installed anywhere on the kayak and I actually did NOT end up using the rivets. I used some stainless steel contraptions my father rigged up. We tested the location, marked our hole spots, and drilled away. Come to find out, the holes were off and that made both of the clips turn inward toward each other. It was weird. We just finished installing $100 worth of attachments and equipment on the kayak seamlessly, but these clips ended up curving inward toward each other... both of them. Oh well.
